Purley Way Slurry Causes Carnage!
In the early hours of the morning, the A23 Purley Way junction came to an inevitable stand still for what is believed to be accident caused by a lorry carrying waste with a slurry like consistency. The lorry is suspected to have spilled its greasy slurry and unsightly contents onto one of Croydon’s busiest major roads, closing two lanes of the A23 Purley Way and causing havoc for commuters. Due to the catastrophic spillage, major delays backed up for hours, buses were unable to continue routes, and passengers found themselves in limbo at crowded stops for over an hour. The severely slippery conditions meant that drivers and busses were unable to safely travel from as far as the Purley Way Colonnades, right through to Purley Cross.
Fortunately the Hydro Cleansing team, were on hand with two mega sweep road sweepers as well as a degreaser to tackle the clean up so that the roads could once again be reopened. The spillage is thought to be so severe that a clean-up will likely take several hours of tough strenuous cleaning on an industrial scale. Our expert engineers found that the slurry liquid that spilled can cause more damage than expected upon first impressions, as this kind of slurry grease and oil can seep into the tarmac and can sometimes result in repaving. The Hydro Cleansing team took first emergency response to ensuring the roads could be safely cleared of the residue and properly cleaned for drivers to continue using this major road.
Today’s accident sheds light on how liquid waste transportation should always be carried out by industry professionals with the precise equipment, vehicles and safety measures. It is always important to use the correct tankers as well as trusted and reputable companies that have the appropriate health and safety accreditations, that will ensure accidents and spillages do not occur. Health and safety should never be compromised over cost and Hydro Cleansing take pride in being industry leaders in offering our clients, full comprehensive liquid waste removal and disposal. As our team continue with their efforts to bring the A23 Purley Way back up a running, drivers have been advised to avoid using the A23 Purley way for the rest of the day.
