“On the third day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me ,
three Septic Tanks,
two feet of tree roots,
and Hydro Cleansing’s Mega-Heat…”
Much like Hydro Cleansing, your cesspit is working 24/7, so it makes sense to keep it properly maintained. The same as any investment, it is important to take care of your septic system so that it can continue working effectively.
Unfortunately, septic systems are often overlooked. This can be due to the location of the tank, lack of information, or as an effort to save money . Without proper care and maintenance cesspits and septic tanks fall into disrepair. In the worst cases, the tank would then need to be cleaned, removed and replaced. To help avoid this, make sure that you are regularly servicing and emptying your septic system. If properly looked after they can last anywhere from 25-30 years.
Why Look After A Cesspit?
We always advise customers to check out The Environment Agency’s guidelines and schedule regular maintenance. We offer regularly scheduled cesspit tank emptying at times convenient for you, preventing the risk of blocked drains and flooded gardens!
How Much Does It Cost?
Our cesspit emptying costs depend on various factors. From the size of the tank, the frequency with which we need to empty it and the volume of waste that we remove.
Generally, domestic cesspits can hold around 4500 litres of waste, we include removal of up to 9000 litres in our standard cesspit empty to make sure you’re covered. (We also won’t charge you VAT for domestic empties.)
Our cesspit maintenance, emptying and and cleaning prices range from £250+. There are a variety of factors to take into consideration when pricing, this is why we offer a free quote, and if necessary, a free site visit.
Why Service Regularly?
We offer bespoke contracts and schedules for maintaining cesspits and septic tanks. Generally, septic tanks and cesspits should be emptied on at least a biannual basis to avoid saturation of the soakaways. This of course depends on the level of usage and requirements of the cesspit or septic tank, something that our teams can discuss with you.

We’ve been doing incredible work on the M56! MEGATRON, our brilliant industry leading vacuum tanker, was on site to clear a 1000mm blocked culvert! The trash screen that was present was severely damaged and was removed for us to access the huge culvert. It ran underneath the M56, 6 lanes + hard shoulders through to a farmer’s field. The huge tunnel was approximately 8m off the M56 carriageway. This was no access issue for Megatron’s powerful suction and Hydro Cleansing’s hose. We used a cofferdam to halt the flow of water and allow the confined space team to access the blocked culvert.
6000 gallon bulk tanker removed the waste. Our fantastic confined space engineers cleared the huge culvert with extraordinary efficiency! You can’t beat our engineers for hard work and passion!
Over the past few years the silt had built up and blocked the inlet of the culvert this in turn meant that whenever it rained, it flooded the surrounding area/fields on the west bound carriageway. Hydro Cleansing cleared all the slit and debris from the blocked culvert and tipped slurry off site. The culvert is now free from debris and the stream free flowing. A new trash screen was installed.
Sewer cleaning is something Hydro Cleansing are the go to guys for. Cleaning a London mainline sewer requires some complex logistics and expert engineers. From cranes, to penstocks, to 500m of jetting hose, this one required a specialist approach.
The sewer had to be cleared of silt in order to allow an inspection of the sewer to take place. The line was 20% full of waste and a risk assessment had established that the risk was significant enough to require all of the silt to be removed before the inspection was undertaken.
The sewer water was diverted by lowering the penstock which sent the flow of water through an alternative sewer. This penstock didn’t keep all of the water out and so the remaining storm water had to be continuously pumped away from the chamber where the engineers were working. This was 45m deep! A crane was supplied by the client to lower in the pumps and hoses.
From there our engineers could remove the silt and MEGATRON, the largest vacuum tanker in Europe, vacuumed it up the 45m into bulk tankers for disposal. MEGA REEL, the longest jetting reel available at 500m allowed the confined space engineers to jet as far into the sewer as they were required to. This loosened the silt and meant it could be sucked up the hoses at astounding speed!
The sewer cleaning was carried out during the night as the flow of waste water is lower. Without the awesome power of Megatron, the specialist hose of Mega Reel of the expertise and commitment of our engineers, this job would have taken weeks. It was completed in a few nights!
