Confined Space Services
We have trained, specialist staff that are qualified in various forms of confined space work. We have participated on numerous large scale projects that have required our input from the initial risk identification process all the way to complete task implementation.
Confined space work has extremely stringent requirements that need to be carried out in order to meet with all the current health and safety regulations. This aspect is never a factor within our work as every single detail is adhered to by all COP 8 engineers.
Methods
All confined space work is carried out to the 'Thames Water, City & Guilds Accredited Standard'.
All entry is supported by at least one man, all engineers are first aid trained with necessary P.P.E equipment and the relevant risk assessments will always be undertaken prior to works commencing.
HCL's operational procedures for confined space
- Recognise the types of hazard found in confined space
- Conduct risk assessments for every project
- Recognise the need for correct isolation procedures
- Recognise the need for an atmospheric evaluation. This will always be conducted in confined space
- Determine the correct safety equipment and P.P.E to be used and worn
- Recognise the need for fire prevention and suppression equipment
- Demonstrate techniques required to aid with resuscitation
- Complete an entry permit for all confined space work
- Demonstrate correct rescue procedures
