Cess Pits & Septic Tanks
Hydro Cleansing recommends that both
septic tanks or cess pits are emptied on a 6
monthly process to avoid overflow and
saturation of the leach fields. This of course
depends on the usage. Either way we can
offer contracts or schedules for emptying.

details.
SEPTIC TANKS
A septic tank provides a system for the collection
of solid waste products, while the liquid elements
are fed into the ground through a soak away.
CESS PITS
A cess pit is a collection point for both solid and
liquid waste. Essenti ally, they are the same thing,
they are both a watertight enclosure (usually made
up of glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) or concrete
etc)
DIFFERENCES
The difference between the two is that a cess
pit requires emptying much more frequently
than a septic tank, but as it doesn’t need a
soak away it is much easier to install and
takes up less space.
The tanks come in different shapes and sizes,
and the most appropriate one for you will
depend on factors such as the size of the
building, your usage, and the space you have
for the installation.
